Cyanogen a week ago started rolling out new improved features in its voice - based virtual assistant Cortana for all the One Plus One uses running Cyanogen 13.1.1 in India. Also, the company claimed that “Cortana India update” will roll out for all the users once they are connected to a Wi-Fi Network. Cyanogen integrated Cortana back in January 2016 with its Cyanogen 12.1.1 update. The update was then only available for US and China.
Unlike Android and iOS devices, Cortana is deeply integrated into Cyanogen OS and users can perform various tasks using voice commands. Some of the tasks that Cortana can do without touch are to set an alarm on and off, turn on and off Wi-Fi. All the things are possible after Cyanogen’s partnership with Microsoft last year. Due to this, Cyanogen gets a chance on work on system level integrated projects namely called “Mod”. Cyanogen is generally integrated with Mod and introduced Cortana Mod for camera and lock screen. Due to this, the user will able to take pictures using voice commands and also can be able to search anything right from its lock screen.
In the recent blog, Cyanogen Team said, “We’re happy to announce that we’re launching Cortana in India on Cyanogen OS first. OnePlus One owners running 13.1 in India can now take advantage of all of the awesome features available from Cortana”.
In one of the other news, One Plus one is going to merge Hydrogen OS and Oxygen OS for its upcoming devices. Also, the company has revealed it’s plan to XDA Developers and declared that merger will enable quicker updates. Apart from this, the team said on merging both Hydrogen and Oxygen OS teams to “work as one unified team on this one combined platform”.
One Plus One Team also said “The main benefit of combining our team resources is to speed up software updates. We know we have some room to continue improving there, and this is an important step in the right direction”.
