LG’s latest flagship device, the LG G6 has been doing really well in the markets. After years LG finally has a phone which is creating the desired impact in the markets. The company now stands at their highest ever market share in the US markets at 20%. While the phone was very good, the one complain that had remained was that LG didn’t have enough variants of the device. LG has today announced two new variants of the LG G6 - the LG G6 Plus, and a 32GB LG G6 smartphone in Korea. Let us take a closer look at these two devices.
LG G6 Plus and LG G6 32GB Variants:
The LG G6 Plus comes out into the markets as the 128GB variant of the LG G6. Despite the ‘Plus’ moniker, there is no increase in the screen size or any other specifications of the phone. The LG G6 Plus is the exact same device as the regular LG G6 but it comes out with more storage. This is strange because traditionally the Plus suffix indicates that the phone is larger in physical size. However, for LG, it just means the internal storage has been increased. This would be a phone priced in at a higher rate than the standard LG G6.
Another variant that has come out today is that of the LG G6 32GB variant. Rumors indicated that it would be named the LG G6 Pro, but no such moniker was given to this device. The phone comes out simply as the LG G6 32GB. Similar to the Plus variant, this phone offers the exact same specifications as the LG G6, but offers a smaller storage space, thus making it more affordable.
It was anticipated that LG would indeed launch two new variants, but the market expectations were that the LG G6 Plus may feature an upgraded processor, the Snapdragon 835. However, LG made no such announcements and it does not look like the company plans to upgrade the processor this year.
