Ever since Reliance Jio started operations in India last year, it has become a household name. With everyone and their grandmother now using Jio’s services, it has become quite a sensation in India. Anything that any telecom operator does after Jio’s arrival has been termed ‘The Reliance Jio effect’. Looks like BSNL’s latest internet plan, the BSNL Chauka 444 comes as a response to Jio’s Dhan Dhana Dhan offer.
BSNL Chauka 444 offers 4GB of internet every day for 90 days for a price of just Rs. 444. However, one major disadvantage that BSNL users will face against Jio users is the fact that BSNL does not have 4G services, and will offer speeds up to 3G. However, while the difference in the speed will be there, the price vs quantity difference is massive. Reliance, on one hand, offers 1GB internet per day for 309, while BSNL Chauka 444 is giving 4GB of data every day.
What BSNL Chauka 444 offer loses in speed, it gains the quantity of data. Taking the mathematics of these packs in concern, BSNL offers Rs. 1.23 per GB, against Jio’s Rs. 11 per GB for the Rs. 309 pack, and Rs. 9 per GB for the Rs. 509 pack.
Those interested in this offer can now purchase the BSNL Chauka 444 plan from BSNL’s website under the STV section. While the website mentions the period of the plan to be 60days, it has been clarified by customer support teams that it is in fact 90 days. One must keep in mind that this is a data-only recharge and that there are no call benefits associated with it.
BSNL’s Director for Consumer Mobility RK Mittal said, “We are committed to provide affordable and efficient services to all segments of our mobile customers. We offer best prices to our customers considering present trend of Indian telecom industry.” This is a good move from BSNL and will surely help them attract more users.
