London: Whether you believe or not, Android users have a high level of honesty as compared to the iPhone users all over the world, new research suggests.Also, Researchers have found that, women are twice more likely to own an iPhone than an Android smartphone.
“This study provides new insights into personality differences between different types of smartphone users,” said Heather Shaw, from the University of Lincoln in the U.K.
“Smartphone choice is the most basic level of smartphone personalization, and even this can tell us a lot about the user,” she added.
Also, the researchers have conducted two studies to identify all the essential aspects that are been associated with both Android and iPhone users.
In the first study, the researchers asked 240 participants to complete the characteristics to be associated with the users of each smartphone brand.
While in the second study, they tested these stereotypes versus actual personality traits of 530 Android and iPhone smartphone users.
From the first study, they revealed that Android users are observed to have greater level of honesty, humility, agreeableness and openness personality traits but are seen as less extroverted than iPhone users.
From the second study, they found that, as almost all the personality stereotypes didn’t occur as in reality, only honesty and humility was found in huge amount in Android users.Moreover, they also found that women are twice likely to own an iPhone than an Android phone.
After that, when they have measured “avoidance of similarity” which describes the to have the similarity as others. In this, Android users have avoided similarity as compared with the other smartphone users.
Ultimately, iPhone users thought that it has been more likely to have a high status phone than android users.
“It is becoming more and more apparent that smartphones are becoming a mini digital version of the user, and many of us don’t like it when other people use our phones because it can reveal so much about us,” said Mr Shaw.
