Over the past few days, leaks surrounding a new Amazon Echo device had been making rounds on the internet. We too reported that Amazon is planning to release a new Amazon Echo device that comes out with a display. However after a few days of silence, Amazon has now announced this gen-next device as the Amazon Echo Show. Amazon’s new speaker-cum-assistant device comes with a touch screen input which adds to the charm of Alexa.

The Amazon Echo Show comes out into the markets with a 7 inched display, and offers a touch screen input. However, what is perhaps one of the most important features of this Amazon Echo Show device is the fact that it allows the users to make and take video calls - giving it a major edge over the older generation of Echo devices, as well as the likes of Google Home.

Amazon has been quite a dominating player in the voice based assistant devices, and they continue to dominate this sector with this new Amazon Echo device. The Amazon Echo show allows the users to do much more than ever before. The screen shows date and time information, weather details, upcoming events and reminders, etc. However don’t think that it can replace your phones - unless you like to carry around 1.1kg devices!

“Echo Show brings you everything you love about Alexa, and now she can show you things. Watch video flash briefings and YouTube, see music lyrics, security cameras, photos, weather forecasts, to-do and shopping lists, and more. All hands-free—just ask,” Amazon notes in its blurb on its product page.

It comes with Dolby powered speakers, as well as eight microphones built-in! The device costs $230 in the US and GBP 220 in the UK. It goes live for pre-orders today, and the shipping will begin around the 28th of June.
